Installation
In order to achieve an even surface of the installed rubber mat(s), a flat substrate is absolutely essential. Uneven surfaces are not evened out by the rubber mats mentioned above. The substrate must be clean, dust-free, firm, level, permanently dry and grease-free (see also the requirements of VOB Part C DIN 18365 “Floor covering work”). Loose areas, cracks and other unevenness must be removed or filled. Loose laying of the rubber mats is possible to a limited extent with some mats and must be checked on a case-by-case basis. When cutting the individual sheets to length, make sure to allow for a possible repeat cut. All sheets must be checked beforehand to ensure that the edges of each sheet fit together satisfactorily and are processed in the same direction. All rubber mats should be stored at room temperature for ca. 24 hours before installation.

Bonding
In many cases, the firm adhesion of the rubber mats is a necessary prerequisite in order to bring out the desired features of the mat in the best possible way. In some cases, it is advisable to roughen or sand the underside of the mat before bonding to improve adhesion. Some mats (Safety Step and Plus) are therefore also available with a fleece backing. For more information on the type, use and consumption of the adhesives required for bonding, please refer to the separate technical data sheets for our CR and PU adhesives. Please request these if necessary and, if in doubt, carry out your own adhesive tests before laying.

Resilience
Our rubber mats can withstand different mechanical loads depending on the rubber compound, material thickness and surface profile. Please refer to the details of the respective mats and request samples for your own tests. Unless otherwise specified, NR/SBR rubber compounds are used for the rubber mats, which are not weather or oil resistant. Resistance to most aggressive media is not given and/or must be clarified in advance in individual cases. Qualities other than those mentioned here must generally be produced separately and are always offered separately by us, provided that sufficient quantities are required.

Maintenance
Most rubber mats are relatively easy to clean and maintain. Depending on the surface structure, they can be tapped, swept, brushed, wiped or sprayed with water. For mats with a smooth, closed surface, a suitable rubber care emulsion can in many cases be added to the wiping water or applied after cleaning and drying, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Mats with a permeable surface (e.g. Ergo Plan) or rubber granulate mats (Ever Soft, Conter Flex, Ever Fit) should not be cleaned with a damp cloth as this can lead to mold growth and unpleasant odors. Surfaces of rubber granulate mats must be treated with a PU sealant beforehand if damp cleaning of the floor is necessary.
